X-mas card :-)

One more card created with the little one...who wanted it for his friend.. :-)

I have so many ideas in my head but when I sit to craft..i manage to come up with only simple cards for children...!!

Supplies used:

Card stock - pink and purrple

Hand cut leaves and berries

Pattern paper

Glitter paper (for Xmas trees)

LOTS of patience (with two naughty kids)

Paper fringed Christmas Tree

 

Yet another simple and child friendly Christmas card. We (me and my 4.5 year old little one) created it within 30 minutes. J

I have used green colored old magazine paper for fringed Christmas tree, a card stock, quilling strips for that framed look, rhinestones, some glitter and few stickers.

He is going to present this to his teacher before vacations start…!!

Pistachio shell craft

I feel that this blog is transformed into something associated with only children's craft... :-)

Here is another simple card for lil one's friend. We pasted pistachio shells on the base of handmade paper and colored them using sketchpens.

A quick and easy one to do with your 4-5 year old..

Christmas Card with Ribbon work

I know its not Christmas time yet, but still I am sharing this X-mas card I tried with Ribbon loop work...

Its a simple card created in less than 30 minutes. Hand-cut some patterns for gifts and stars, made green satin ribbon loops, used some glittery balls and ta daa...

PS: The card was lying around since quiet sometime, by the time I managed to click the pic, some glittery balls got removed...!!

DIY Mask for Kids

Here is some fun activity to do with your kids.
One fine day, we were going around some place, when kiddo asked for face mask from a small street shop. Looking at them I got an idea to try it at home. 

I took some simple images of animal faces from google and created these cute little masks...

Steps: 
1. Hand draw the pattern on a sheet of card stock/drawing sheet.
2. Cut out the holes for eyes (for looking) and wing design of butterfly.
3. Stick some other color papers, glitters, rhinestones to add the zing.
4. Create butterfly's antenna/cat's moustaches by pipe cleaners.
5. punch two holes at either sides, tie a ribbon or elastic to fasten the mask.

Note: I used drawing sheets, for more robust masks felt sheets can be used. 

DIY Rakhi - tutorial

Hello friends,

With one of the main festivals approaching next month i.e. Rakshabandhan, I was keen to share the method to make beautiful handmade rakhis.

It is super easy and an altogether different feeling to tie a hand made rakhi on your brother's wrist...which he is going to flaunt for quiet sometime...:-)

We, at our home have been making rakhis for...well...as long as I remember...

Material Required:
- Satin thread (kacha resham)
- Glue
- Ribbons
- Laces
- Embellishments (lots of)

Here is the picture depicting procedure to create base of resham:

Steps: 
1. Wind the thread over a small bangle or between your fore fingers to create base of desired size.
2. Tie it tightly from the middle (as shown in picture 1). After tying, cute the side loops and remove the bangle. 
3. Turn it around from the cut-sides to give it a round shape and cover the knot in the middle (I guess, picture 3 shows it better than words)
4. Use an old toothbrush to smooth the resham threads, the task will be mush faster and efficient if you are using kachha resham (highly recommended)
5. After brushing, trim it from the sides to give a perfect round shape.
6. Last step is to pressed in a huge book to take the proper shape. We used to keep them overnight.

Later on, use variety of embellishments and decorate the resham bases with different designs, let your creativity do the magic...!!

Stick on the ribbon/thread on the back. Remember to stick a small piece of paper on the back side over the ribbon/thread to secure it firmly to the base.

Stone painting

Our recent trip to lonavala filled our baskets with some more memories, lots of beautiful pictures, and a few stones.
Yes stones..!!
When we were going to bushy dam, i observed plenty of round shaped stones lying there in abundance...looking at them i remembered the idea of stone painting.
So as we used to do in our childhood days...i called the kiddo..and both of us were busy collecting the perfect shape n sized stones.
After coming back on saturday eve..we did this on sunday afternoon..
Stones washed, dried, coated with pearl colors, and worked upon with fevicryl 3d outliner.
Simple stones converted to beautiful paper weights.

And this last one with sun and smileys (partially done by little one) went to his teacher as a gift on first day of new session :-)

Card with pencil shavings..

This is a real simple craft which is done using the shavings of pencils.

It is a good activity to do with little older kids who can handle the delicate pencil shavings.

I guess, almost all of us would have done it during our childhood days.
It is simple, easy to make, & with minimal craft supplies. You just need a cardstock, glue, some colourful pencils and a sharpener.

Here is our attempt.

Word Art

I saw this sometime ago in one of the MAD sort of shows in one of the kid's channels...

The random fonts and sizes of letters gives it a very different kind of look.

I liked the work...and hence decided to give it a try.

So it started with cutting different letters from different newspapers. And then sticking them randomly on a sheet of cardstock.

We also created two cards for father's day..that is today. :-)

I am thinking about using this word art sheet for some other project..like may be a pen holder..any suggestions from the talented vrafters are always welcome...:-)

A card for teacher

My 4 year old wanted to give a card to her teacher because the session is ending....no wait..because his friend has given a card to her..!!!

So yesterday evening..we rolled up our sleeves...and after half an hour of hard work aka selecting card stocks, colours, designs, sticking our fingers with glue and all..we came up with pretty decent and a simple creation..:-)

After that I told him to write sumthing inside....and voila...the way he has written, i fear that the teacher will change her decision of promoting him to ukg. ;-)

ETA: he not only got promoted...but also got the present for being best boy of the class...(i am still wondering how...?) :-)

Father's day card - 2

Here comes 2 more cards created for special fathers in our life ( dear Nanaji and Dadaji).. :-)

Lil champ wanted one card with airplane, one with train and one with car.
He also wanted to create a fourth one...for himself...!!!
When I told him that it is for Father's day, he replied, "main bi to father hoon...tortoise ka....!!!"
**tortoise is his favourite soft toy**

Father's Day Cards - 1

Hello Crafters,

This is the first card from my dear little boy for his father.
This is the first time when Lil champ can properly wish DH, so I thought of taking this oportunity to create  cards with some help (read "interference") of Lil Champ. :-)

Here comes the first one, others will follow soon...
The card shows am airplane carrying sentiment "flying high". Inside of the card says..." Dear Papa, with you by my side, I 'll always be flying high"

The party time Fun - Invitations

No party is complete without the invitation cards. Along with party caps me n my sis created some birthday invites also.
So here are the pics, we created some 8 cards with chart papers, birthday stickers, washi tapes and glitter pens.

My dear DH also contributed by writing the details of party, as I was trying to engage the birthday boy in something else (he wanted to write everything himself..!!))

I was delighted to see the end result of this teamwork and we went ahead to invite all the friends.
Later on when one of friend asked about the date....we were shocked to see that we forgot to mention the date on card...!!!

It was a hillarious moment and we went back to every one's house to specify the date of clelebration... :))

Its party time - Chocolate box

And here is the final creation for party time- a jungle theme decorated box for chocolates.

No birthday is complete without going to the school in a new colorful dress and distributiong chocolates to friends and teachers. It feels like the most special person in the whole universe... (well atleast i used to feel like this..:-))

So we are trying our best to make little champ's day special.
I decorated the box for him based on a jungle theme.

An old box has been used as base and coloured chart paper, cut outs from a Winnie the Poo packing paper, some glitter and lots of stickers did all the wonder. Grasss is created by cutting a old magazene's green page.

Learning: We used same thick chart paper to cover the inner box, which slightly increased its size, hence it opening and closing was not as smooth as before. We must have used some normal colored paper or packing paper for this...!!!

Its the Party TIme - Party Caps

Hello Friends,

Its the party  time in my home....
and I will say my favorite party time of the year, as it was my little darling's 3rd birthday on 8th mar'13.

So to add some more colors and sparkle this time, myself and younger sis created some party stuff at home...

here is the first item- Party Caps

We created some cool pink caps with plain chart paper, glitter paper, handmade papers, stickers, rhinestones, and strips of crepe paper.

Second one was invitation cards, which I will post soon...

Finger Puppets for those cute tiny hands...

Hello Friends,

This was a very random and unplanned kind of project,

In a fraction of second I asked Little one to join me to make finger puppets.
Did a very random google search and found some interesting stuff (link).
Though I found most of the people using felt, I used chart paper (It was lying in my trash)

Happy Birthday - Paper collage sunflower

Well for us, January is indeed a month of birthdays..!!

So here comes my next kid friendly craft, a  paper collage sunflower.
We started as a team (me and my kid).
He got bored after sometime time and was more interested in tearing the pieces of paper.
Now I am more worried about his future text books :-(

Anyways, I was satisfied with the final outcome and here is the picture for you.
We are going to send this card to my sis, who is favorite masi of little champ..!!

This is a recycling project, as i have used old magazine pages for collage..

I am also trying my luck to win some nice gifts...!! The chance to win is there on Sindhu's blog, she has a lovely mini giveaway to celebrate 6 months of blogging. Congrats Sindhu !!

Birthday Card - Potato stamps !!

Well these cards are very very special for me.
Reason: This is the first project me and my little champ have done together :-)

So here it goes, this a simple kids craft, very easy to do and lots of fun.
I have used a small potato, made a flower and a leaf stamp using a pointed knife, oviously kiddo was not allowed in this step.

Later on we had lots of fun. we put diffferent colors on our new stamps and made two sweet cards.
One card is for his grand mom (my mother) as her birthday is fast approaching.

And second one is for his teacher...for wishing her a happy new year.

I added some stems, he helped in putting glitter and pearls for the centre of flowers.

We thoroughly enjoyed the process, only difficulty was he wanted to do more and more and was not ready to stop stamping..!!! I guess, its in the genes...:-)
On a personal note, these small arts and craft activities are great ways to bond with your kid and develop the creativity in young minds. Personally I feel it is far far better than mobiles, video games and other gadgets...!!

PS: Don't ask me why leaves are coming in from all directions...!!!!

Sunflowers from pistachio shells

One more from my mother's craft classes.
This is a perfect craft for kids.
Creating sunflowers using pistachio shells...easy, fast and beautiful.
Colors used are Hobby Ideas Stik-on colors and Glitter...

Glass Painting

This is one of the glass paintings from my mother's hobby classes.
This has been prepared by kids of around 10-12 age group (I guess).

Fevicryl Hobby Ideas glass painting colors have been used.

It is very quick and easy to create.
It looks beautiful, though this particular is not framed when clicked.
I apologize for the poor image quality...(it was clicked months back)
